"We're all set," he said, smacking the soil from his hands. "Not quite," the left hand protested. "Earth, water, fire, wind--we're still short water. Bringing you back to life is one thing, but we can't hope to succeed in breaking out of a sealed dimension if we're short even one of them." "No clause for alarm." Standing before the mound of dirt, D rolled back his coat and shirt sleeves, exposing his left forearm to the wind. He brought his right index finger to bear just above the wrist, at a point where the artery was. Merely running the finger across the white flesh left a thick vermilion line, and bright blood gushed from the wound, pouring down on the lumpy black earth like a warm waterfall. --Hideyuki Kikuchi, Raiser of Gales, p. 156
---------------------
Unfortunately, the characters belong to Hideyuki Kikuchi and the original design goes to Yoshitaka Amano...but...aside from that, D-sama is all mine!!! I will NOT share...except in this paltry 2-dimensional means. Hands off my D-sama! *jealous glare*

Edit, May 30, 2009---How is it that this scene is not in the manga? This is a very important scene in the book. Not to mention, it's just darned cool. Well, phooey! I guess even with a full-length graphic novel, there is still a need for more fan-art.
8D this was a great scene...D is just cool as a cucumber no matter what he is doing whether it be fighting a giant invisible spirit beast to the death... or spilling his own blood...ooohhhhh
I loved it! But he's nearly lost his cool a time or two. I think of Doris in particular, but there are a couple of other places where he seems to be somewhat agitated. Of course, I'd be standing there screaming my head of, but...yah....
I'm a little behind on the novels. The last one I read was the second half of Pale Fallen Angel. I'm much further behind on the illustrations, but I have places that I want to draw marked in the books, so it'll be easy to just pick one up and go for it whenever I get ready.
You reminded me, though. I need to go order the latest manga....
ahhaha I actually have not read the end of pfa 2...;-; I somehow...didn't want to finish it and the next book came out so I read that ...and the next and now I don't remember what was going on and should start back over with it...but no spare time aaaaaaaaahhhhh oh well...
As for illustrations...XD I actually have one for twin shadowed knight almost finished ^^ It's so pretty...but oddly enough...I finished the one from the one I just read before I finished it...again Oh well...things don't really have to be "in order" when D is concerned...He's fairly timeless ^^
8D that is a good idea marking the places I occasionally have an uncanny ability to turn just to the right page...or the vicinity of where I want with most of my books...but more often I get stuck reading random passages ...and lose track of time...noooo ahahha..

This is fantastic! The amount of detail is just superb!
I loved Raiser of the Gales, though my favorites have to be the original Vampire Hunter D, and Twin Shadowed Knight, D number two is hilarious. >D
..Oh, and I so have claim to D.. <<

Ah, yes, those are good. I think my favourite, though, is Stuff of Dreams.
